We have received a long comment about the clearing and burning of Bear Mountain. We have not verified the information they have provided yet, but:
They say ANYONE who wants their property burned should just notify CalFire and they will schedule it for training burns. Since then we spoke with one person who, many years ago did attempt to volunteer their pasture for training burns. They were abjectly denied!
So this was not a true statement. Apparently only certain friends of friends are qualified to have their ranches cleared and burned free! Most people do not want their land burned. Isn't Calaveras burned enough??
