Letter to the Editor...About the Animals

Helpless victims of the economic
crisis in this county, the animals
are suffering the most!
   Dear Sierra Sentinel:

At the last Board of Supes meeting it became clear to me that no one; not the county and not the Calaveras Humane Society wants to care for the animals
that must be handled by the county Animal Services department. (I think that's what they are calling it now)

The Sheriff's Office got it when Dennis Downum offered to take it from Brian Moss, who didn't want it.

Now the Sheriff's office, shorthanded doesn't want it, so Brian Moss is taking it back.

According to Supervisor Callaway, the Calaveras Humane Society doesn't want it; that is unless they get a big fancy building to go with it.

The animals are totally left out of this. And where is Laurie Murray, who was handling Animal Service over at the Sheriff's Department? Did she go to Brian Moss, too?

Is anyone actually in charge? Doesn't anyone care? Callaway made a joke that Al Segalla and the taxpayers organization could take it over, which indicates how she really doesn't care either.

Neither Callaway, nor the CHS truly cares about animals or they would have stuck up for the "hounding law" as the Sierra Sentinel so wisely reported.

There must be someone who will take it over on a contract basis. We might as well forget about CHS.  This is truly disgusting!

Callaways favorite organization. She said so herself. An organization that needs to revamp their board. There should be no one on the Board who does not own a retail business in calaveras county. these people love animals but don't have a clue how to run anything. and callaway encourages them to keep real business people at bay. so she doesn't care about the animals either. she voted against the hounding law.
