Sign-in NOT required per Brown Act

In Tuolumne County, as it has here in Calaveras County many times, attendees at a meeting were told they were required
to sign it (register) on a paper at the podium.

Do people in Calaveras County know that they can NOT force you to sign in or leave details about yourself in order to speak?
Per the Brown Act, Government Code Section 54953.3 "A member of the public shall NOT be required, as a condition to attendance at a meeting of a legislative body of a local agency, to register his or her name, to provide further information, to complete a questionnaire or otherwise fulfill any condition precedent to his or her attendance."

In other words, if you want the to know your name and personal info, then fine; but if you do not want to give it, they cannot force you. Nor  can they refuse to allow you to speak before signing in!!

In fact, a woman in Sonora wrote them a "Cease and Desist" letter and won!!! Maybe someone should do that here.
