Today, October 14, 2013 we celebrate Columbus Day

The Nina, the Pinta and the
Santa Maria!

   While many question whether or not we should even be celebrating the day that Columbus
discovered the Americas, October 12, 1492, today is the day we still get an extra day off.

   Amerigo Vespucius actually discovered the Americas first, Columbus thought he was in India  and they both brought the natives plenty of European diseases.

  And so we celebrate by taking the day off; at least many do.
