Letter to the Editor: Climate Change = Violence

   Dear Sierra Sentinel:

I've been wondering why you aren't writing more about our water problems in Calaveras County and California.

Are you not concerned that, as many scientists figure, that a lack of water (hence, climate change) equals more worldwide violence?

I read where military forces around the world, including the US, fear a lack of water, or warming of the planet (it could probably work the other way too), will cause more conflicts between countries, as well as local residents.

I'm sure you've heard, as I have, of people angry that they are not allowed to keep their roses or whatever alive, are already complaining about others wasting water.

I believe this could be just the beginning of the future of our country, as water is gold; especially in California. And as we all know, there was plenty of violence over the gold.

Are our local elected water officials doing enough to protect us from the big guys in the south just stepping in and taking our water. Do we have any rights at all?

Oh yeah! Ask the Mayor of Chicago if climate change is the cause of all the gun violence (killings) in Chicago.
