Copperopolis man arrested for threatening police

   According to the Angels Camp Police Department, on December 29, 2014 at approximately 7 PM, officers were dispatched to the Save Mart parking lot as a result of multiple calls from a male caller stating he was going to kill any police officers that arrived in that parking lot.

   The caller identified himself as 22 year old Sonora resident Logan Downey. Downey  advised he was in the rear parking lot of the store and in possession of a 9mm Glock handgun.

   Units from the Calaveras Sheriff's Department and the CHP arrived to assist in locating Downey.

   Logan Luke Downey, of Copperopolis, was arrested near the Angels Camp Police Station for allegedly Resisting an officer (and making threats to a police officer,)a felony, and for Disorderly Conduct due to Alcohol and Obstructing or Resisting a Peace officer, both misdemeanors.

   Downey was not in possession of a handgun at the time he was arrested and advised he never had a handgun.  A check was made of the area and no firearms were located.

   Downey was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.
