Fatal Collision on Hwy 4 - Rain and Speed!!

According to CHP on December 2, 2014 at 4:18 PM a 79 year old Murphys resident was driving a 2001 Chevrolet 1500 eastbound on Hwy  4 east of Pool Station Road at an unknown speed with his passenger Dean A. Morgan (52) of Angels Camp.

David Osuna (37) of Modesto was driving his 2008 International westbound on Hwy 4 at 40-45 MPH.

The driver of the Chevrolet entered a posted 40 MPH advisory curve in the roadway, when due to the unsafe speed of the driver for the wet roadway the rear of the Chevrolet began to slide in a clockwise motion.

The driver of the Chevrolet applied the brakes and the vehicle continued to rotate.  Osuna observed the Chevrolet sliding towards him in his lane and applied the brakes of the International.

The Chevrolet continued to slide into the path of the International and the front of the International impacted the drivers door area of the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet was administered CPR on scene however life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Osuna was not injured and the passenger in the Chevrolet had minor injuries but refused transport.

The name of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
