Initiatives now need fewer signatures

  Due to the low turnout in the gubernatorial election, the count for qualifying count for the next election is substantially lower.

  Instead of the requirement of 807,486 to sign the petitions, now you will only need 585,486(8%) for it to qualify. For Constitutional amendments the number now 365,879 (5%) instead of the current 504,760.  That is quite a change.

   Therefore, we may see more initiatives in this period of time before the next election cycle. It would make sense.
