Lake Tulloch Homeowners worry about property values--Political STUNT!!

During the public comments period of the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on February 24, 2015 several Lake Tulloch million dollar homeowners stood up and asked the Supervisors to stop the lowering of the lake for fish.

Melones is nearly empty because they are forced to keep Lake Tulloch full. Congressman McClintock says "people are more important than fish".

Let's see now, if we have to decide McClintock the carpetbagger or "the fish", McClintock the carpetbagger or "the fish". Hard decision.

Supervisor right wing extremist Pastor Cliff Edsel, who backs everything McClintock says, called for a Special meeting next Tuesday March 3, 2015 to pass a Resolution encouraging the FEDS not to allow water to be drained from Tulloch.

While its pretty clear that these multi-level million dollar homes could lose value,  Edson was obviously playing politics, and the other extremist religious kook Pontiff Ponte, went along with it.

Ponte apparently is worried about her next election, as her popularity has waned, and complaints about her ability to handle the job has been questioned.

Talk about political STUNTS!!  Chris Wright called it correctly, but went along with it, because Ponte needs to campaign in her district for money, and as he said "It's your district."

Ponte figures she'll please the rich folks along the lake and get money to buy her next election, which she now needs since she lost her other cushy job.

Ponte is a wack, no doubt about it. But Tulloch losing water would be bad for the Copperopolis economy and would financially devastate many. Just because Ponte and McClintock are jumping on the wagon please dont lose sight of the fact that draining that lake will hurt a lot of good people.

The lake could be drained after summer just as easily.

Maybe CCWD can hire a consultant.

I am a retired project manager for water pipeline material. I was in the water treatment plant supply business for over 35 yrs. I have a basic understanding of water rights in California. I live in Copperopolis with a view of Lake Tulloch. I am not a millionaire nor do I live in a million dollar home on Lake Tulloch.

I read your editorial comments in regards to Lake Tulloch. And I found them to be quite offensive to those who live on and around the lake. Your assumption that we are naive, spoiled children is absurd.

Most here at Lake Tulloch understand how, what, where, and why this reservoir was built. We also understand, with a long standing drought, we could lose the lake for any period of time. So you can take your careless and flippant thoughts of us and shelf it!

What I don't understand are irrigation districts who want to sell water to outside areas of the state. Water which will come from Melones and Tulloch. And the 90% +/- profit of the water sales goes to the farmers associated with the districts. (So much for the poor farmer who struggled with sweat and blood to build such an "aquatic empire".)

Farmers have many resources to finance and run their farms. The government also assists them in times of trouble. All I am asking for is a source of water to my home. We, the customers, have to pay for new pumps and installation it Tulloch is lowered (which is fine.. We all need to sacrifice). CCWD needs water for the residents of Copperopolis. Not for water skiing, boating or fishing. Water for our homes, businesses, and your county jail. If that alone is arrogant, then so be it.
