Letter to Editor: Animals don't have souls?

   Dear Editor:

Not sure if you take religious letters, but I am still so upset after listening to a catholic radio station. A child around 11 called in to ask about her dog who died, going to heaven.

The priest who took the call asked her if a tree goes to heaven; if a dead flower goes to heaven. When she didn't know, he said they have no soul, just like animals.

I was so shocked to hear someone say an animal has no soul, I wanted to shout and cry at the same time.  How would he know if an animal has a soul.

That is the last time I listen to a religious radio station. Most animals are much more kind and wonderful than nearly any humans.   Religion is simply not what I used to think it was.

My pets and other animals I know ARE going to heaven, whether Christians think they should or not.  If only so-called Christians were nearly as good.

I'm with you. I am certain my dear old dog is in heaven. He had a better soul than most priests.

Any religion that forgives child-abusing priests and simply reassigns them to another parish deserves no respect or belief from anyone.

So true. So true. My husband and I left the church when they defended the priests against the kids. sick, sick, sick

Humans are animals. The "priest" on the radio tripped over his own logic.
