A conversation with Gary Stevens, candidate for Calaveras Sheriff

We reached out to Gary Stevens, who is running for Calaveras Sheriff in 2018, to try and find out where he stands and why he is running.

He lives in San Andreas and was a resident deputy in Arnold at one time.  He now works in Amador County, still in law enforcement.

He tells us that he believes when he applied for the appointment to Sheriff after Kuntz died, that the Calaveras Supervisors wanted someone in-house.

Stevens says he feels he needs to run due to a lack of leadership in the Sheriff's Office and also that he is concerned about the direction the Sheriff is going.

We have asked other questions and will continue this dialog when he responds.

Did Stevens tell you he was a good cop?
