Nancy Anne Cano of Vallecito

    1950-2018

Nancy Anne (Beyer) Cano was born to Fredrick and Beverly Beyer in Hayward on Wednesday September 27, 1950
and entered into rest Tuesday January 23, 2018 at the age of 67.  She battled with Machado-Joseph
Disease or Spinocerabellar Ataxia Type 3 (SCA3) for over 20 years.

She grew up in San Leandro and met her husband Mike at the Calaveras County Fair May 21, 1955 at the age of 15.  They married on November 28, 1968. Nancy and Mike have two wonderful
children, Michael and Cindy.

Nancy and Mike lived in San Jose from 1970 to 1985, then moved to Calaveras County, where they have lived for the past 33 years.

Nancy worked at the Calaveras County Office of Education for 16 years, enoying her many friends and co-workers.

Nancy loved raising her kids and was proud of them both. She loved being involved in both Michael and  Cindy's activities, being Michael's team soccer mom, sewing team banners, taking pictures and providing all the team snacks.

She was also Cindy's Brownie and Girls Scout troop leader, always being there for cookie fundraisers and camps.

She was one of the original founding members of the Bret Harte FFA Boosters, where she served as secretary, becoming an Honorary Chapter Farmer.

Nancy cherished family time and everyone being together. Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, sewing (making her daughter-in-law Angelique's wedding dress) and traveling with Mike.

They traveled to North, South and Central America and much of the United States by car, boat, commercial and private plane.  Nancy would always say "We have been to many places together but there is nothing better than home."

Hand quilting being her favorite, she made many quilts over the years for family and friends. Nancy's quilt received a best of show in 1987 at the county and state fair. Her quilt was then hosen by Disney for display at Disneyland for a year.

Nancy enjoyed making a drinking her homemade Kahlua and when she was unable to do that she loved eating her chocolates.

Nancy is survived by her husband Mike of 49 years, son Michael (Angelique) Cano, Jr. and daughter Cindy (Bobby) Bettger, four grandchildren Dwnell (Shane) Powell, Mariah Cano, Dylan Cano and Branden Cano and two great-grandchildren Addysen and Landen Powell, father Fred Beyer, Sr. and siblings Art Beyer, Cindy (Bud) Dyball, Patty (Glenn) Laviolette, Sue (Ron) Vehmeyer and Judy Dean, mother-in-law Mimi Cano, sister-in-law Patty Cano and brotherpin-law Tony Cano and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Beverly and two brother's Fred and Carl, who also passed away from the same hereditary disease.

She is so loved and will be terribly missed by all but never forgotten.
