The Saga of Liz.....by Virginia Hull

A weekly original story set during the WWII era.

"Come on Mother! Let's go downtown and see a movie.
I need to get gas too." Liz and her mother had done the weekly washing and had a light lunch, their usual Saturday routine.

"That would be fun. And we can see the newsreels about the front lines," he mother replied. "How much gas can we get?"

Liz smiled and said, "We're already getting used to this rationing. I can get 5 gallons this week."

"Maybe we could stop and get a Coke at the drugstore after the movie." I'd love to have an ice cold Coke.

As they walked out the door and down to the car, Liz thought about how much her mother loved Coke. "I've heard they may put it in bottles in more stores soon."

"Then we could bring it home and keep it in the ice box.  I'm not sure why, but if I have a headache, a Coke helps it go away." They got into the car and made their way to downtown Pasadena.
