Although it isn't yet clear why, attempted robbery is suspected in the murder of a Eureka priest over New Years Eve.
The alleged murderer was arrested at his parents home on January 2, 2014. He had been arrested earlier on the day of the murder, but released although intoxicated at that time.
The same type incident happened to Calaveras Sheriff deputies the other day, when they released a man for intoxication and then released him.
He was later arrested again under violent circumstances, which could very well have been prevented had they held him until he was sober.
