Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Hwy 120

   UPDATE: CHP just released the name of the passenger who succumbed to their injuries in this accident as Sarmite Zommers (67) of Mississuaga, Ontario.

   UPDATE by CHP on September 9, 2014 at 8 AM:  According to CHP on September 9, 2014 at around 12:45 PM George Zommers (68) of Mississuaga, Ontario was driving his 1999 Harley
Davidson motorcycle westbound on Hwy 120 at approximately 35 MPH just east of the top of Old Priest Grade.

    Zommers failed to negotiate a left hand curve and drove the Harley onto the right shoulder.

    The Harley traveled along the right shoulder and then drove up the steep dirt embankment, paralleling the roadway.

   Zommers lost control of the Harley and it traveled down the embankment, colliding with the roadway, ejecting both the driver (Zommers) and the passenger.

   Zommers was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and the passenger, (name withheld pending notification) of Ontario, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

UPDATE as of 2:17 PM: Sadly, this accident is now a fatality.

  UPDATE at 1:25AM:  Air ambulance was responding due to one patient with severe injuries.

   September 9, 2014 at 12:50 PM:  A motorcycle accident has been reported on Hwy 120 at Big Oak Flat Rd. in Groveland.

   An ambulance has been dispatched to the scene for injuries.
