Stanislaus K-9 officer stabbed

Around 3:45 AM on January 8, 2016 Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a Quik Stop Market on Paradise Road for a suspicious person.

When officers arrived, the man became aggressive and K-9 officer Rocky
was sent in to assist with an arrest.  Rocky was stabbed repeatedly and has been taken to a vet; the suspect was taken into custody.

The Sheriff praised the officer who could have used deadly force to protect his partner Rocky, but instead handled the situation appropriately. Rocky will survive, we are told.
