We accept anonymous letters for your safety in Calaveras !

    We have been asked why we accept letters to the editor by anonymous sources or only publish initials when asked.

   Over the past few years and now more than ever, we feel it is
important to protect our readers and those who write us, from an ever present violent strain present in Calaveras County.

   As most of you know, the SierraSentinel.com owners receive death threats and other threats of violence from the criminal element of certain elected officials.

    Those who wish their names published, will be; but we do not encourage nor do we demand it, as some other publications do. We want people to feel free to express themselves without fear of reprisal.

   We thank all of our readers and those who write us with their honest opinions, for not using personal comments or foul language.
