On August 13, 2016 Theodore Sopinski (85) of Santa Rosa was driving a 2006 Saturn of Hwy 12 just west of Hwy 49 at approximately 55 MPH.
Sopinski allowed his vehicle to drift off the roadway onto the shoulder of Hwy 12, losing control of the Saturn.
The Saturn then crossed into the opposing lane and ran off the side of the road, went down an embankment, collided with a metal fence post and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
The San Andreas Fire Department personnel had to extricate Mr. Sopinski from the vehicle and he was transported to Mark Twain Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Per CHP alcohol and or drugs were not considered to be a factor in this collision.
