CHP reports that on September 20, 2012 at 12:15 AM. Elizabeth Piedra, 19, of Valley Springs was driving her 1994 Honda eastbound on Hwy 26, just west of Silver Rapids, when due to her intoxication, she failed to maintain her lane position and allowed her vehicle to cross the solid double yellow lines and inter the oncoming traffic lane.
The Honda struck the front of Marie Roeben's (also of Valley Springs) 2006 Chevrolet, causing major damage to both vehicles.
Piedra had to be extricated from the Honda by emergency personnel at the scene. She was transported to Doctor's Hospital in Modesto with Major injuries.
Roeben was transported to Kaiser South in Sacramento with minor injuries.
Piedra was arrested and then released to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
