Joseph Senn of Murphys

   Joseph M. Senn passed away suddenly on September 18, 2014 at his home in Murphys at the age of 87.

   Born on July 11, 1927 in French Camp, Joe grew up in
Stockton. He served with the United States Navy on the USS Iowa until 1946.

   Joe then moved to San Andreas to assist his mother in managing the ranch located on Mountain Ranch Road.

   In 1952 Joe married the love of his live, Agatha M. Ott of Manteca.  He worked for Blagen Lumber Company at Toyon until 1958 when he opened Joe's Cabinet Shop.

   In 1960 he obtained his General Building Contractor's license and built more that 100 homes and remodeled many throughout Calaveras County and the surrounding counties.

   The family lived on the ranch in San Andreas until 1970 and then moved to Murphys.  Joe was a co-owner of Lake Alpine Lodge from 1968 to 1977.

    Joe was a member of Murphys St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was past president of the Men's Club.  In 2007 he was awarded with a plaque, gold medal and gold lapel pin from Pope Benedict XVI for his outstanding work for the church throughout his life.

   He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus having served as Grand Knight, the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, past director of the Angels Gun Club and was project manager of the new Logging Museum in Arnold.

   Joe volunteered countless hours wherever needed.  Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Agatha, daughter Kathy Biedinger, sons Joseph, Walter (Kellie) and Anthony (Jennifer) and was a proud grandpa "Gramps" of seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom adored him.

   He was preceded in death  by his parents Joseph and Josephine Senn and his only sister, Margarite Ott. Joe was very proud of his Swiss heritage.

   A Rosary will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp at 7 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2014, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday, September 26, 2014.

   A Celebration of Life will be held at Angels Gun Club immediately following the services.  Burial at Murphys St. Patrick's Catholic Columbarium will be private.

    Donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Murphys St. Patricks Men's Club, P.O. Box 1792 in Murphys, 95247 or to the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club P.O. Box 373 Ripon, 95366.

   Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
