Fire at Big Trees South Grove

   See also 'Park Fire continues'


   UPDATE at 3:30 PM:  The rain in the fire area is very light. They are leaving one engine during the night and one ground crew from USFS.


  UPDATE at 10:35 AM:  Two more water tenders and additional engines have been dispatched to what they are now calling the 'Park Fire'.  The bulldozer has now been released from this fire.



   UPDATE at 10:25 AM:  Appears that the Sheriff's Office is following a hunter in the area. More details as they become available. They have requested Fish and Game to come to the area.


    UPDATE at 10:30 AM:  The winds are blowing embers from this fire into new areas. Additional assistance has been requested.  The first water tender is near the bathrooms, and reports can't get any closer to the fire.


   UPDATE at 10:45 AM:  Good news. This fire is holding at around 3 acres and it just began raining in Angels Camp, so rain is on the way for the fire area.


   UPDATE at 11:50 AM:  Fire crews now have a water supply set up. They have released the water tenders.


      UPDATE at 10:15 AM:  The main fire is now apparently encircled. They are now chasing down small fires that started outside the perimeter.


    UPDATE at 10 AM:  Air support has been called in for this fire. A bulldozer has also been requested.
  UPDATE at 9:40 AM:  Crews have reached the fire, which is 1/2 to 1 acre in size at this time. They have requested on additional water tender.


    October 25, 2014 at 9:15 AM:  Several fire engines have been dispatched to Big Trees State Park South Grove near Million Dollar Springs due to a fire reported.

   Hopefully the rain will come soon and assist with extinguishing the fire. Water tenders are being dispatched out.
