Letter to the Editor: I trust Merita Callaway

   Dear Editor:

I want to share some key thoughts about the Supervisor race for District 3.  I urge all voters to stand behind Supervisor Merita Callaway and give her a strong mandate of approval for the future.

We have lived in Calaveras County for 34 years.  I'm a real estate broker and have been in real estate for 30 years.

Whenever an issue came up that affected our County, town, or real estate in general, I was always able to contact Merita and get her help.

A good case in point was the speed limit increased that Caltrans made which had a negative impact on our downtown.

Merita became involved and worked directly with Caltrans and the Highway Patrol to make the needed changes.

Another example was the driveway slope issue that generated big controversy for landowners.   These are just two examples of her dedication and service to our district.

I cannot support her opponent who has not lived here long enough to know the area, the people or our issues.

I oppose a candidate who clearly does not have the background or experience needed for the job.

I reject the empty promises and the opponent's negative campaign that paints our town and it's residents with gloom and doom.

Based on these and many other factors it seems crystal clear to me that Merita Callaway is the logical and very best choice for Supervisor of District 3.

Please join me in helping to re-elect Merita Callaway on Tuesday November 4.

We will never agree with everything every politician - or person we know does. But what is essential, as Douglas says is TRUST! Have they really done what they say they have done? Will they be honest and transparent about their thinking and their decisions. Are they good communicators and collaborators? Will they play well with us and other officials? Merita is well vetted in our community and unfortunately her opponent and his boasts about experience with budgets, businesses he says he has etc. and his trustworthiness is really sketchy still. Merita still has my vote.
