DUI arrest after pickup hits tree

   On December 14, 2014 at approximately 5 PM Ricardo Rivera, Jr (38) of San Andreas was driving his 1994 Chevy S-10 eastbound on Old Gulch Road at approximately 30 MPH.


   Rivera claims, per the report, that two deer ran from the north roadway edge in front of his vehicle forcing him to take evasive action.

   There were no witnesses or physical evidence to substantiate that claim. In any event, Rivera traveled off the paved portion of the roadway onto the south shoulder where the front of the Chevy struck a large tree.

   Rivera extricated himself from the truck and called family members for help.  Rivera was transported by family members to Mark Twain Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

   Rivera was contacted at the hospital and after an investigation was subsequently arrested for suspicious of alleged DUI.
