Speed, Wet roadway cause head-on crash

  According to CHP on December 12, 2014 a driver (who fled the scene) of a 2008 Mtsubishi drove eastbound on the wet roadway of Hwy 26 at 55-60 MPH with one passenger in West Point.


  Robert Whitten (52) of West Point was driving his 2014 Chevy 2500 westbound at 35 MPH with one passenger.

   The driver of the Mitsubishi  entered a curve in the wet roadway when due to the unsafe speed  for the wet roadway, the driver applied the brakes and slid into the westbound lane.

   Whitten observed the Mitsubishi sliding towards him in his lane and applied the brakes of the Chevy, and turned the Chevy to the right and left the paved portion of the roadway.

  The Mitsubishi continue to slide into the path of the Chevy. The front of the Mitsubishi impacted the front of the Chevy.

   The driver of the Mitsubishi  fled the scene prior to exchanging information or rendering aid to the victims involved in this collision.

   Nathan Liedloff (35) of Pioneer (passenger in the Mitsubishi), Robert Whitten and Gail Whitten (57) of West Point (passenger in the Chevy) were taken to Sutter Amador Hospital with minor injuries.
