After receiving a report on Saturday afternoon of an estranged wife being confronted by her husband, Amador County deputies headed for Pine Grove.
En route, they intercepted the man in his white pickup and gave chase. When he came to a dead end off Ridge Road near Sutter Creek, he aimed a shotgun at them and they shot him.
He was hospitalized but is expected to survive. He had taken the shotgun from his father's home earlier in the day, according to a report.
