A woman who lives in Placerville, just of Hwy 49, was awoken by her dog around 3:30 AM this morning. She found that a mountain lion was trying to drag off the 45 pound dog.
She chased a got the mountain lion to drop the dog, and it will survive after stitches and treatment of puncture wounds. Fish and Game suggests motion sensitive lighting will scare off mountain lions around your home.

Her dog (and all dogs) should be INDOORS at night!!! Cruel to leave them out in the cold!! She should sleep outside on the cold concrete.
