Traffic fatality in Livingston--Hwy 99 blocked

   UPDATE at 12:25 PM:  We just learned that the victims were driving a Nissan Xterra and it received major rollover damage. It still isn't clear what the other vehicle was.

    UPDATE at 11:10 AM: Traffic is now flowing southbound on Hwy 99 through the area. Investigation continues.


      UPDATE at 11:05 AM:  A plate number was relayed to CHP for the unknown vehicle involved in this crash.  Also Merced Sheriff is contacting person flying a drone over Hwy 99, perhaps to get photos of collision activity.


 UPDATE at 10:30 AM:  Traffic is backed up southbound on Hwy 99 to Hammett while authorities are investigating this fatal crash.


   UPDATE at 10:10 AM:  The Merced County Sheriff's Office is also assisting in this case.  One injured person has now been flown to Doctors Medical Center.

    Six CHP units are still at the scene of this collision.  The Ford parts found earlier are now determined not to be part of this collision.

     
    UPDATE at 9:45 AM:  The Coroner is now en route to the scene. Warning signs
are being put on the sig-alert system.  There is a report that vehicles are going over the center divide to turn around.

   Merced Police are also on scene to help with traffic problem. The Air Ambulance is landing on the freeway southbound lanes.


    February 16, 2015 at 9:30 AM:  A traffic collision on Hwy 99 at Sultana Ave in Livingston has resulted in a fatality this morning, involving a
Ford of some type. Atwater and Livingston Police are at the scene, in addition to CHP and other emergency personnel.

   Southbound lanes on Hwy 99 are blocked at this time. Parts are strewn across the freeway. Tow trucks have been dispatched.  Avoid the area if possible.  They are attempting to locate the other vehicle involved in this crash.
