Brown water in Rancho Calaveras and La Contenta? No lead???

Some CCWD customers in Rancho Calaveras and La Contenta have experienced brown water today.

CCWD says that this brown water is completely safe to drink; posing no threat to the public health.

The water is discolored due to a buildup of minerals being dislodged from the inner pipe walls when the velocity of water was quickly increased, due to 2 major factors.

Temperatures nearing 100 degrees caused water demand to skyrocket over the past few days causing a secondary booster pump to kick on in the Rancho Calaveras area.

The 2nd reason they gave is the wildfire near Hogan Reservoir by La Contenta today. Firefighters accessed hydrants to fight the fire and that caused scouring of the inside of the pipes.

So, has the water been tested for lead, since these are old pipes. The press release does not say!

I live there. I want to know if tap water has been tested for lead. I don't want to be in another michegan situation of poisoning.

Oh come on now, big fears, little risks. I would be more concerned with the overall quality of the bilge water that is coming out of the tap.
Rancho was built by cut and run developers.

Yuk I would not want to rely on the post that states the water is ok to drink. Whomever is in charge, I can bring you a tall glass and see if you will drink it. Do you really think we are that ignorant
