Sinkhole on I-5 grows

June 1, 2016 at 6:20 AM:  Caltrans reports that after thoroughly examining under the northbound lanes of I-5 in San Joaquin County, the sinkhole under the roadway is much bigger.

The hole is now around 40' wide and they suspect an irrigation pipe that runs near the lanes could be the cause.  I-5 will be closed, with detours through Hwy 33 until they can find the cause and repair the damage. Take Hwy 99 instead if possible if heading north.
