Bear Mountain changes its name?

The day after the Appaloosa Fire, burning was seen on what had been previously known as Bear Mountain, just outside Angels Camp. we are told
is property of the Whittle family.

CalFire had apparently had an agreement to clear the oak trees and brush off the mountain to make it better for cattle grazing. We thought you had to get special permits to clear oaks in Calaveras, but perhaps not.

CalFire says they used it as an opportunity to PRACTICE clearing for real fires and did the work for free.  The piles of brush have been sitting there for some time.

Now Bear Mountain is being called BARE Mountain. At least someone is burning those piles.  We had understood the Whittles were agreed to do the burning, but not during fire season.
