Robert Edwin Wallace of Murphys

Born November 11, 1937 in Pittsburg, California,  he was 79 years old. He had resided at his home on French Gulch Road since 1970.

He passed away at Avalon Care Center in San Andreas on Saturday November 26, 2016.  He graduated high school in Concord at Mount Diablo High School before moving to Calaveras County.

He served in the US Army from January 1956 to January 1959. He worked at the Cement Plant in San Andreas for many years until the mid-1970's when he opened his own business, Wallace's Farm and Feed at the corner of French
Gulch Road and Murphys Grade Road.

After a few years the store closed and he went to work at Standard Oil in San Andreas, driving a gas truck to refuel service stations.  He did that for around 20 years, until he retired.

He enjoyed photography. One of the bedrooms in the house was turned into a darkroom.  He also had a workshop in the back yard where he did woodworking.

We also traveled by RV extensively as a family.

His wife passed away in April of 2016.  He is survived by his daughter Elicia Wallace of Modesto, daughter Penny Wallace of St. Petersberg, Florida and son Chris Wallace with daughter-in-law Rebecca of Lodi.

He also has two grandchildren:  Courtney Wallace and Tyler Wallace, both of Lodi and a great-grandson named Leobardo Mejia, son of Courtney.

He is also survived by his sister Janice Sabo of Murphys.

He was receiving medical care at Avalon Care facility in San Andreas at the time of his passing.

There will be a graveside service at Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at 11 AM.

The family requests that any Memorial Contributions be made in the form of donations to the local VFW Post 2600 in San Andreas.
