Suspicious incident with child in Forest Meadows

If you think you are safe from the scum of the world anywhere, forget it!  On December 12, 2016 around 3 PM the Calaveras Sheriff's Office received a report  of a 7 year old
juvenile male that was contacted by a suspicious person near the intersection of Sugarbush Lane and Azalea Court in Forest Meadows (a gated community).

The 7 year old reported that he was walking home alone from a school bus stop when a white car puled alongside of him.

The driver talked to the juvenile through an open window and told him that he knew the boy's father and asked him to get into the vehicle.

The juvenile asked the driver for his father's name. The driver told the boy that he would give him a piece of candy if he got into the vehicle.

The juvenile refused and the vehicle left the area.  The vehicle is described as an all white four door sedan similar to a BMW. The boy recalled the vehicle having a visible Forest Meadows decal on the front passenger side of the windshield.

The vehicle also had a visible gate control devise that the juvenile recognized as one used to open the Forest Meadows security gate.

The juvenile described the driver as a 20-40 year old white male adult with blond hair and a pale complexion. The juvenile was unable to provide a clothing description.

The Sheriff's Office takes these reports very seriously and urges parents to discuss safety measures concerning these types of incidents with their children.

Children should be encouraged to use the buddy system when walking to and from school bus stops.

This case is under investigation.  If anyone should have any information pertaining to this vehicle and the driver please call the sheriff's office at 754-6500.  Things happen, even in gated communities these days.
