According to the CHP on February 23, 2018 around 3:10 PM units responded to a reported traffic collision on Hwy 26 at Ponderosa Way in Glencoe.
Investigating officers determined that a Wilseyville woman (41) was driving her 2013 Hyundai eastbound on Hwy 26 approaching Ponderosa Way.
A 69 year old Glencoe man was driving his 1985 Toyota westbound approaching Ponderosa Way.
For an unknown reason the driver of the Hyundai allowed her vehicle to travel into the westbound lane of Hwy 26 and directly into the path of the Toyota. They hit head-on and as a result, both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is unknown if alcohol and/or rugs were a factor in this collision. The collision is still under investigation.
