Cannabis Regulation Initiative approved

June 27, 2016:  It's official that the ballot initiative to regulate Cannabis in Calaveras County had 2400 valid signatures.

If our County Supervisors are smart, they will adopt it immediately, saving the taxpayers $172,000 on a consultant fee and replace the urgency ordinance. Are our elected Supervisors smart enough to do this?

Curious when the IRS will step in. Almost 600 commercial growers have registered. Most paying in cash. If it is not in your checking acct. you have not payed your taxes. The IRS will look at your canopy size and with help from planning be able to determine how much your yield is. Back taxes are going to sting. What, Mountain ranch, did you think you could come out from the shadows and just register and go back to normal business. Wake up call is coming and it will be the IRS

The former president of CCA stated yesterday in his facebook post that with a 22000 sq ft canopy and even with a bad year that most would get 400 pounds of flower. Selling in bulk would bring roughly $600000. If the IRS will go after a waiter for tip money not included in his or her return, you had better bet the IRS will be hot on the growers tail. Why do you think they have yuo provide your SS # in the application. You will fall directly in the 30% tax bracket and they will look at prior years. Way to go CCA and especially CAZ T. the current president who has just been in Calaveras County for under two years. How does a guy like this get upwards of 700 people to provide all their personal details to the planning Dept and negotiate with Government to create this whole situation? In one word AGENT. YOU have ALL been duped

Feel sorry for all the growers who have not saved their money. I am sure the government will get closer to the pot of $$ soon and all will be so disappointed! The free ride and all the $$ profit is coming to an end

With all the ways the governments city, county, state and federal, want to steal your money, those with cash may have declared on their taxes and kept cash due to banks not wanting marijuana money in their banks.
Look into the eyes of the elected supervisors, their eyes are as bright as head lights. An economic stimulus has come to Calaveras County. Now watch how they spend it!

You are so correct. There is no other industry that can pull Calaveras County out of the poverty level and provide funds for so many deferred ideas and maintenance for roads etc.
