Attempted murder alleged in Mountain Ranch

According to a Calaveras Sheriff's Officer press release on November 4, 2016 at approximately 8:35 AM they responded to the 18000 block of Jesus Maria Road in Mountain Ranch for a report of a shooting.

The incident apparently stemmed from a dispute between an adult male and a female adult victim where it was alleged that during the dispute the suspect discharged a handgun into a vehicle that was occupied by the victim and a second female occupant.

The vehicle sustained damage from the discharged firearm.  The suspect then allegedly confronted and took items from inside the vehicle that belonged to the two women.

The suspect was identified as 64 year od Jim Clancy of Mountain Ranch.  The victims were not injured. Clancy was subsequently arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Robbery and Attempted Murder charges; bail is $2,200,000.

The case is still under active investigation.
