Hungry bear cub comes a knockin'

A resident on Valley View in Arnold yesterday called the Sheriff to report a black bear cub
was knocking on the sliding glass door.

No action was taken as the cub wandered away on its own.  The bears are awake and hungry and there isn't any real forest left for them due to clear-cutting, so we are seeing more of them in the neighborhoods.

Don't leave out your trash or pet food if you don't want them to visit you. They are pretty much
harmless. Get a big dog if you really want to keep them off your property.

Bears also are attracted to hummingbird feeders and even bird seed when hungry enough. But they scare off easy if you just raise your voice and hands over your head.

And why call the Sheriff, just let him be.

I agree with that. poor things suffer enough because of the clear-cutting. leave them alone. if you just yell, they'll run
