Major injuries in West Point crash

According to CHP, on May 25, 2018 around 1:30 AM Neil Macdiarmid (22) of Sutter Creek, was driving a 2003 Saturn on Hwy 26 near Higdon Road in West Point at a high rate of speed.

As he came to a curve near Higdon Road he hit his brakes, locking up the wheels of the Saturn, and went straight off the south side of the roadway where he collided with a cedar tree, knocking it down.

Macdiarmid was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the Saturn, causing major injuries.

A passenger Alina Lucero (19) of Jackson was also not wearing a seatbelt and suffered major injuries.

A second passenger Alana Palmero (19) of Ione was wearing a seatbelt and suffered moderate injuries. All were taken to Kaiser Hospital in South Sacramento by ground ambulance.

Macdiarmid is suspected of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages and may face felony charges for causing major injuries to his passengers.
