Complaints about Hwy 4 at Big Trees!!

Caltrans has been working on Hwy 4 near Big Trees State Park for a long, long time.  According to Caltrans, they removed all those wonderful Sequoias
simply to bring SUNSHINE to the roadway because of accidents in the winter.

They are also building a retaining wall to prevent sand from running into the creek nearby.  Traffic is a zoo in the area and it seems that the job is endless.

So you don't know the story of why those precious Sequoias were cleared, her it is. And straight from a Caltrans Supervisor. Hwy 4 runoff was pushing a lot of sand and silt into Big Trees Creek and so Big Trees State Park sued Caltrans and won $7 million for the road to be redesigned so the creek doesn't silt up. Unbelievable, those 200 year old trees were sacrificed for silt in the creek. Thank you, flaming libs and environmentalists for ruining that beautiful section of Hwy 4.
