Bomb Team call.

On Monday October 15th, 2012 at about 1:40pm a county employee called the Sheriff's Office to report a black duffle type bag was located on the ground near the Calaveras Transit bus stop at the Government Center parking lot located at 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas.

The bag had reportedly been there unattended for over an hour. Deputies confirmed with Calaveras Transmit that no one had reported a bag missing today.

Sheriff's deputies responded and initially moved pedestrian traffic back as members of the Sheriff's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, commonly referred to as Bomb Team, inspected the item utilizing a robot.

The perimeter was expanded to a partial evacuation of the Government Center including County Counsel, the CAO's office, and the Courthouse after x-rays taken at the scene of the bag showed what appeared to be jars and wires inside the package.

The Bomb Team utilized a water disruption charge and determined the contents to be food and clothing. The evacuation was lifted around 3:40pm.
