What's a "corridor management plan" and why is it being updated?
A Corridor Management Plan is a written document which outlines the vision for the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway and guides a wide range of activities including resource protection, marketing, partnership organizing, and strategies for sharing the unique culture and history of the area. It outlines key goals and objectives, implementation strategies, and timelines for completion.
A 61 mile-long National Scenic Byway along Highways 4 and 89 in Alpine and Calaveras Counties, the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway connects and supports a diverse array of stakeholders. A carefully-crafted Corridor Management Plan can help these stakeholders work together, join forces on related projects, and avoid the conflicts that occur when different organizations, groups or government agencies are planning without consulting one another.
The Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway's original Corridor Management Plan was written in 2004, and needs updating to reflect contemporary opportunities and challenges, and to outline practical and innovative strategies to ensure the long-term vitality of the Byway.
