Did You Get Your Brownie.....?

For those good, loyal Wilensky-Callaway campaigners who turned out at the Board of Supervisors Chambers October 25, 2012 for the rally planned for Chris W(rong) and Cliff Ed(sel),
qe are sure that you enjoyed your "brownies". You will be further  rewarded by your Supervisors and or candidates listed on your website. Will the IRS be interested? YOU BET!

Just because some elected officials want to repay their campaigners with OUR TAX MONEY, doesn't mean its right, or legal. ARE THE VOTERS THAT STUPID?

We don't think so!!! We certainly hope not!!

I love the way the cbc (sounds like a disease, doesn't it) calls the non-profits that formed them to collect our tax money, AGENCIES!
How ridiculous. I'm not that dumb!
And I think they fibbed about the brownies...

This whole thing is insane. How can they expect lodging businesses to collect tax to pay these political organizations claiming to be 501c3's?
What is this CBC? A PAC? (Political Action Committee)

IF you believe that raising money for non-profits is via increasing Taxes, then the FAIR way to do it is to raise the taxes of everyone that's going to vote on it. But there's also the EASY way and that's to tell the public to vote on a tax that doesn't affect them personally. Who cares if it hurts some in the lodging industry. If a few motels, hotels or B&Bs go under, we'll survive. In fact, if forcing them to raise their prices 10% in T.O.T. puts them out of business, maybe they SHOULD be out of business. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Transient tourist pay the TOT not the lodging facility. They collect the TOT fee from the transient tourist.
Sierra Sentinel you know that (I think).

Lodging facilities pay TOT to the county and must generally "eat" this tax just like any other tax to remain competitive and get guests in the door, especially in a down economy. Anyone that disagrees has never run a lodging facility and knows not what they're talking about. It's very easy to steal money as the CBC is thinking of doing. It's much harder to run a business in a down economy paying no taxes. It's very difficult to even scrape by trying to run a business when being taxed on your revenue. It's downright disgraceful and and possibly time to close the doors when the taxes are increased because of an insensitive and corrupt Supervisor (Wilensky) and his entitled support group (CBC) threatening to steal hard earned dollars from honest business owners. All other business owners should beware... This is only the start of very bad things to come.

Maybe you should re-locate to a state where you can charge your rent and collect the TOT. Do you take credit cards? Require cash, pick up the % the credit card companies charge.
If you're eating 6 to 10% for Tot and paying credit card charges, yes it is difficult. Or you could run for supervisor, get elected, collect pay and use the B&B as a write off like Tryon does or did. Wait until the elitist in this county want to add $1.00 per night for the other tourism feature.
