San Bernardino's Politics Amid Bankruptcy and CalPers Debt

The City of San Bernardino has until November 30, 2012 to submit an austerity plan to the bankruptcy court for their Chapter 9 filing.

We understand that just before another contentious vote, one member asked for a 5 minute bathroom break, and 40 minutes later had not returned.

The remainder began arguing among themselves, causing audience members to shout at them "Shame on you".

The number one creditor ready to sue them is CalPers to whom they owe $143 million.  The one councilperson never returned and they never did take a vote amid accusations of "dirty politics" among the council.

How long before Calaveras County is at that stage?

Shouldn't be too much longer. Maybe with new BOS members, citizens will get a better understanding of the pension deficit liability for Calaveras. Maybe that was an additional incentive, along with top of pay grade, for the 3 retirements by year end?
