Calaveras Supervisors continue budget hearings-Department heads have "delusions of grandeur"?

On Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 9 AM Budget headings will continue for Calaveras County Supervisors in the Board Chambers in San Andreas.

Supervisor Spellman, it was noted, is in Utah, and will be available by telephone.

We are amazed how out of touch with reality these Calaveras County department heads are. They aren't asking for more people but they are saying they can't go on with more and newer toys, like computer programs.
One person we spoke with said "They must think we're in LA where they need all this fancy stuff."

Another said "I know why Davis, and her other three friends are demanding teeter funds. They are afraid that the Board of Supervisors will give them to the Sheriff to put more officers on the ground, so they are trying to take them."

Still another commented "I think the Clerk, Assessor, Audito and Tax Collector have delusions of grandeur to want to waste $4 million on a computer program."

It's a shame people don't realize the new jail is to be finished in August. 90 days after completion, the original contract states, the new jail must be fully equipped, staffed, ready for occupancy (160 beds?). Will it happen?

Didn't the county spend $4million on the property for the new jail (measure J) and the new Sheriff's Office? Didn't the county spend money it didn't have? Didn't the county borrow $7million with a $14million pay back to replenish the county coffers using Certificate of Participation funding mechanism and dedicating the tobacco fund revenue to pay the bill? Why did Spellman have his knickers in a twist about the computers? Does he have any recent past historical knowledge of Calaveras County or just his defeating Russ Thomas? $4million compared to Measure J plus $4million for the property.
Could that have been the start of the potential "insolvency" problem. Time will tell.
