Speed causes major injury crash on Hwy 4

   According to a CHP report, on June 19, 2015 around 5:25 PM Jeremiah Elsey (21) of Stockton was driving a 1995 Toyota eastbound on Hwy 4
at approximately 65 MPH.

   Dale Potter (23) of Linden was driving a 1980 Toyota westbound on Hwy 4 at 55 MPH.

  Mr. Elsey, due to his unsafe speed, per the CHP report allowed his Toyota to travel over the double yellow line while attempted to negotiate a natural curve in the roadway to his right.

   Mr. Potter observed Mr. Elsey approaching him in his lane and applied his brakes forcefully. Mr. Elsey's vehicle then struck Mr. Potter. 

   After the collision both vehicles ended up blocking Hwy 4 in opposite directions.

    Mr. Elsey was transported to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with major injuries.  Mr. Potter was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with major injuries. Mr. Potters passenger, Amanda Potter (23) of Stockton, was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.

   Alcohol/and or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision.
