Tonight at the Calaveras Supervisors will approve after the fact the "mutual aid" that the Calaveras Sheriff ordered on September 12, 2015 for removing people from Hwy 4 during the Butte Fire.
Apparently our Office of Emergency Services, or Sheriff Kuntz, failed to apply for approval of the aid at the time. They brought up all kinds of cops from Stockton and other places to rout people out of their homes in the middle of the night on Hwy 4.
Now they have to back and cover for their mistake and are applying for the money after the fact. Not surprising, with Kuntz running things, no one was in charge.
If they don't apply within a certain amount of time, the Sheriff department will have to pay for the out of area officers.
