This doesn't make you cry????

Then nothing will!
Clear-cutting has now been proven by the Butte Fire
NOT NOT NOT to prevent devastating fires!! You must
create desert to prevent embers from ONE tree from flying
for miles to a new vegetation source.

Controlled burns do prevent forest fires, native Americans used to use this method and aboriginal Australians still use this method. I understand that clear cutting is not controlled burning but if the state (more accurately CARB) would allow for controlled burns as they were practiced when I was a kid maybe these fires would have been less devastating.
No, pictures like that don't make me cry, folks that cry over clear cutting haven't done much research on forest management, it's in the best financial interest of corporations like SPI to keep the forest healthy, cut here, allow growth there, with a large enough forest this is a manageable business model.
Rose colored lenses tend to make it difficult to see the forest through the trees though, no harm in that, enjoy living in the hills, it's nice up here.

To the defender and most likely employee. Native Americans set fires to SCARE the animals out of the forest so they could hunt them, and the buffalo to kill and eat and for fur.
Not only did they have no way of CONTROLLING a fire, but it never was part of their plans. Learn your history, DUMKOFF.

I love the 'forest management' and corporate money comments. Yes, companies like SPI control the 'forest management' and help these corporate loggers make millions.
