Smoke reported in West Point--SPI clear-cut area?

UPDATE at 10:15 AM;  Per Cal Fire, SPI says they have enough heavy equipment on site to handle the fire.

Do you remember Supervisor Wright once saying he wanted clear-cutting to prevent West Point from burning down?

It didn't work, Chris. In fact, clear cutting causes more drying and in effect caused the Butte Fire to be worse.

A look at West Point from the sky shows how devastating the clear-cutting has been and how close to town.

UPDATE:  Water tenders have been sent out on Lily Valley Circle in West Point. If you google this address from the air, you will see it is a totally clear-cut area by SPI.

For some unknown reasons they are allowed
to control burn the trees not big enough to be worth a lot of money to them. Often, these control burns, get away from them.

September 25, 2015 at 9:50 AM:   An engine crew has been dispatched for a report of smoke at John Deere Road and Dowling Road in West Point.

The crew is investigating the cause of the smoke.
