According to CHP on October 8, 2015 around 5 PM Jason Tannhauser (19) of Columbia was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Hwy 49 near Campo Seco Turnpike in Mokelumne Hill.
Ricky Caspary (59) of Mokelumne Hill was driving his 2005 Chevy Colorado southbound on Hwy 49.
As the vehicles approached each other Tannhauser drove his vehicle directly into the path of the Chevy causing a head-on collision.
Caspary suffered major injuries and was taken to Sutter Amador Hospital. Tannhauser was not injured.
