Elections explains Recall petition filing time

We had some questions about the way the Calaveras Elections department handled the recall petition of District 5 Supervisor Steve Kearney yesterday, June 27, 2016.

   According to Rebecca Turner,
County Clerk, the petitions were turned in at 1 PM by 10-15 residents while 2 employees were at lunch and 2 others were out of the office.

As is common, there were others in line, and the petitioners wanted a count of the signatures before they left. They had not counted them prior to arrival.

When the spokesperson, Mr. Clapp, raised his voice at the clerk trying to help them. Rebecca Turner came out and told them it would take some time, but they were welcome to wait.

Each page must be stamped after counting and was meticulous.  They did wait, although not happy and the count was done in front of the petitioners. They were updated during the process.

Maybe the wining petitioners should run for his office seat and feel the pressure of the public

Is the word supposed to be "whining" or "winning".
