CCWD: Wettest year on record???

According to a CCWD press release, precipitation across the Sierra Nevada Mountains and foothills has exceeded the wettest year on record which was in 1983.

Calaveras County has received a cumulative wet-season total of 42.3 inches of rain as of January 22, 2017, which exceeds the region's yearly average of 40.8 inches.  According to CCWD this is exactly what the State needed to start the end of drought policies.
